There is a wealth of information located on the National Site under Get Involved—Competitions + Auditions. https://www.nats.org/national_student_auditions.html
Students in this category are required to perform with a dynamic (up close) mic. This mic can either feed directly into the video recording or be used with an independent amp.
This needs to be entered into the system by the Auditions Chair. Contact them for help.
You can expect 3-4 hours of work for judging. Judging is divided as evenly as possible amongst the teachers, regardless of how many students they have entered. We have extended the timeframe this year to 10 days, so spreading it out should help lessen the load. Since we are fortunate to be able to include so many students and categories, it can take time. Just remember that at an in-person event, you would likely devote a similar amount of time.
In Auditionware you can select all or some of the categories that you would feel comfortable judging.
In Auditionware, you will click on a link that says “view my students/judging assignments”. From there you can print each student‘s pdf.
The winners list will be posted on this webpage and be sent out to teachers.
No videos will be played at that time. However, all 1st place winners will be invited to perform at a live winners recital later in the year.
Videos may be taken down after the judging has concluded.
In our chapter if there is a tie amongst the winners in a category, say for 2nd place, each person will receive the appropriate prize money for placing 2nd and the next person will place 3rd. So in that case, 4 winners are eligible to advance to Regionals.
1st place is $65, 2nd place is $50, and 3rd place is $35.
